Depending on how you use StudyMate, we may process the following categories of data.

StudyMate is built so that your academic content — subjects, grades, homework, exams, focus sessions, and related settings — stays on your device by default.

If you enable optional cloud features available with StudyMate Plus, this content may be synced to our cloud infrastructure so you can restore it or use it across devices. Until then, it is not uploaded to our servers.

3.2 Account data (optional)

If you sign in (for example to purchase or unlock StudyMate Plus on the web or in the app), we may process:

3.3 Purchase and subscription data

If you subscribe to StudyMate Plus:

We may process limited technical data needed to run and secure the service, such as:

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your academic content for advertising.

Focus Mode may use Apple Screen Time / Family Controls APIs on your device to help block distracting apps during study sessions. This processing happens on your device under Apple’s system permissions. We do not receive a feed of your other apps’ content for advertising.

7. Data Retention

When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

8. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We share personal data only with service providers that help us operate StudyMate, and only as needed for those purposes:

These providers process data under their own privacy policies and contractual safeguards.

We do not share your grades or homework with advertisers or data brokers.

To exercise these rights, email support@discio.ch.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or with your local supervisory authority in the EEA if GDPR applies to you.

10. International Transfers

The StudyMate website is hosted in Switzerland (Infomaniak).

Some account, checkout, and cloud features rely on providers (for example Firebase and Stripe) that may process data in the United States or other countries. Where we transfer personal data abroad, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognized under Swiss and EU law (such as standard contractual clauses or the provider’s approved transfer mechanisms).

11. Children’s Privacy

StudyMate is intended for students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact support@discio.ch and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

StudyMate does not track you across other companies’ apps and websites for advertising under Apple’s App Tracking Transparency definition. We do not use third-party advertising SDKs for cross-app tracking.
